This is a top notch place. If you are looking for the fine-dining experience in St. Louis, this is a must visit location. Everything is of the utmost quality and the staff treats everyone who walks in the door like a celebrity.
This is high-quality Italian cuisine, meaning it is extremely tasty, well prepared, and you will leave feeling stuffed. It was a hot day so we only ordered small plates, but someday we will come back and try their big plates. The prosciutto wrapped endive, stuffed with mozzarella and bursting with flavor, was a big hit with us. It was a perfect blend of flavors and textures.
The Mussels were absolutely delightful as well, served with a spicy sauce that begged to have bread dipped in it. We also really liked the pistachio butter served with the house bread. We also had an amazing panna cotta (not pictured here) that had the most incredibly light and smooth texture.
I have one major regret upon visiting here: that I had left my camera on a high ISO setting. You may notice the graininess of some of these photos.
Also, we probably should have asked for some seating away from the usual patrons, some of which are a bit snooty and made disapproving faces at our use of the camera. We saw all types in here, including college students in shorts and tank-tops, but being a fine-dining establishment there are always going to be some patrons who think it’s their job to judge others, which is no fault of I Fratellini’s or its staff who made us feel more than welcome.
- Pros: Top notch fine-dining in Clayton. Everything we ordered was amazing.
- Cons: Expect some snooty fellow diners, but you cannot blame the staff for that.
- Charlie’ Favorites: Mussels, Prosciutto Wrapped Endive, Negroni Sbagliato
- Christine’s Favorites: Mussels, Panna Cotta, Arugula Salad
